Jason posting

So here is the deal. Usually Erin posts, and she has great pictures and all that. Well, Tonight I am posting because Erin is busy being productive. She has us almost completely unpacked in our new home. I just though t that you all might like to know about this new home. It is something else. God saved a sweet and gnarly, even insane and sick house (those all mean very good in Santacruzian). It is a very short walk to the beach, it has a creek in the cool back yard, it is on an alley with a small cliff across the street (meaning no traffic over five miles an hour). It has a fire pit, horseshoe pits, a huge deck, a garage, big living room, and "sunroom". We are "stoked" (which is apparently an English derivation of the the Anglo-Saxon word for stirring up a fire, though the slang means, - excited, pumped, awesome, psyched, cool, rad, jazzed, sick, happy, thrilled, boisty, sweet, awesome, boisterous, amped, chill, gnarly, surf, socal, fun, wicked, stoned, revved, high, anxious, rad dad - at least according to urbandictionary.com)
So tonight, this is what we did. We had a great meal that was dropped off for us (thank you Bartletts) then I chopped down a couple of tree that had died and tipped over but had not fallen, but had instead propped perilously against one another waiting for a Farley Child to walk beneath them unsuspectingly so that they could fall on someone, and the children helped me haul the trees, as well as an apparently two or three year old Christmas tree that was severely in need of some water and/or a burial service, then we walked along the creek down to the ocean (about a five minute walk) where we played on the beach before walking home and tossing the chopped up Christmas tree in to the fire pit and setting it ablaze so that we could roast marshmallows and make s'mores. Erin popped a bottle of wine and we toasted to our new house and our new city.
So, as you can see, we are still wondering how in the world this all happened. God sort of just grabbed us by the ankle and dunked our heads into a swimming pool of goodness. We realize that we probably had more people praying for us that the Pope (which we expect to continue, nudge, nudge) and we just want you to know that we are thankful and that God answered all of your prayers. Now we just need everyone to come see it. Please leave a comment with the dates of your visit so that we can begin coordinating. Thanks so much and we will see you all soon.
Jason, on behalf of Troop Farley

Gnarly, dude! And that is actually quite natural for me to say such things. So glad to hear of your sweet find. Isn't that just like God to blow us away with His goodness? Glad to hear you are all well, safe, and getting settled. We'll continue to pray for your transition.

Sorry, we can't include any dates to visit at this time. Doug will actually be in CA next week, but far from Santa Cruz and with no days off during his time there. Bummer! I don't think we'll be heading down to CA as a family until at least February of 2009, but we'll keep you posted.

Wow. I am so happy for you guys. That house sounds AMAZING! Praise the Lord for His faithfulness. He just wanted you guys to sweat it for a few weeks until this casa showed up! I can't wait to visit. Miss you all- love you all!

Yeah! We knew God's plans were so much better than anything we could think of. Nick and I can't wait to come visit!

We just hope the fires don't reach you, they keep saying on the news that Santa Cruz is on fire....mom said it was just the mountains. Luckily you can just run and jump in the ocean if you are on fire! I love you all!

Farley Folk, the pad sounds groovy (that's a word from another strange state which has something to do with the notch in a record and LSD). I can't wait to see it. In fact, I think you need to pitch some music thing to the elders and get us down for a weekend.

We miss ya tons here, but we are blessed to hear that things are going well (frankly, I had hoped for the worst so you might think you had misinterpreted God's call and come back). Keep posting and get some pictures of the casa so we can see the grooviness!

So Leif would like me to ask if he can visit Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. How about 7:00 in the morning until the sun goes down? Will you be around then?

P.S. Thank you for all your hospitality for your nosy neighbors!

Hey gang, I mean the Santa C. kind of gang, that tromp around in shorts and sandals flashing the chi-rho at all the liberals..

How are you all? Praise God that He has given you such a beautiful place. Indeed, many were praying.

Love the saints there, wash them, lead them, die for them

Follow Me, says Jesus..
